The biggest problem was caused by lowering the dues $150. That undermined the 8 yr. plan to have the monies for the denitrification & water tank. A management co. cannot manage without proper funds either, and will also cost us money we don't have at this time. It's one thing to keep dues down, but it is also a dereliction of ones duty not to ensure proper income to maintain our community. The BOD has to have the guts to do the right thing, not fold under pressure. From my own observation, it is the PO's who have the higher income not the ones on fixed incomes who complain the most.

I would really like to know how you can determine that people on a fixed income and retired do not complain about dues!!.. I am on a fixed income live in the south and with the price of gas AND DUES I doubt that I will be able to go to LA this summer. When we purchased our property 22 years ago we worked and could enjoy our visits but after retiring we must watch our money and with the increases the board dished out over the past five years it is a problem and choices have to be made on spending priorities!! I am happy for you if you have a big income and don't care where your money goes but everyone is not in that situation so don't go around speaking for ALL people on a fixed income!!!....
I don't know if you're retired on a fixed income but don't lump all retired people in your category when it comes to dues! I am retired and a long time owner at LA but will not be coming to LA ths summer for a couple of reasons, the price of gas, and the cost of dues. We do not live close by in the tri-state area but down south almost 900 miles away in SC and I had to make a choice to pay our dues or come to Pa and pay the high gas prices to just commute and go to shopping etc. The dues situation is out of hand for what we have and the big increases came about over the last six years and last summer I did not see any improvements per say so where is the money going? Management companies know how to run a community, we have one in our condo complex, and the dues are not as high as LA so you tell me where the fault lies. Our setup of a board, with no managerial experience, an office staff that deems it a burden when you ask them a question, a manager that would leave last summer right at 3pm no later so it was a joke amongst neighbors that you could set your clock so how can you make the statements ? I guess you're either an employee or someone who is brainwashed because we are not getting our monies worth.
